Although I’m 41 and still have my hair,
it isn’t what I’d call very nice hair.
It’s
a boring brown color and very fine so it just lays flat again my head unless I put some gooey gel crud in it. I’ve tried
growing it long a couple of times and ended up looking like something out of a Nicholas Cage movie.
Although I don’t have nice hair, my son does. He’s got surfer-boy blonde hair that is long and
curly and drives women wild. Girls don’t care because he’s at that age where the opposite gender is synonymous
with cooties, but women always talk about how nice his hair is and what a handsome boy he is.
I’ll admit that my wife and my genes mixed together pretty well in making our kids. He is a handsome
lad.
He’s also a brave and giving one. Cancer
has touched both my and my wife’s families. I don’t have to tell anyone how much it sucks. My son learned about
how some people will shave their heads to raise money for cancer research, and he decided all on his own that this would be
a good thing to do.
I gave him some help on the promotional side
of things, but it was really his initiative that made this all happen. He raised almost $1,400, and I’m very proud of
him.
On the night of April 3 we had a large family
get together and I cooked a turkey. After we were all feeling stuffed we settled in for the main event of the evening.
Here is his hair, just before the shaving:
